It’s early March, and we can already feel spring is just around the corner… which means that Summer Rising is on its way!!! Applications for summer 2026 opened on March 3rd, and while we’re prepping for another amazing season of adventures, friendships, and life lessons; we want to discuss some of the top 5 benefits of Summer Rising:

SOCIAL SKILLS AND FRIENDSHIP BUILDING:
- In a world where we are constantly online, camp gives kids an opportunity to interact with their peers and surroundings without any screens. This is the chance for them to build empathy and learn to navigate relationships one-on-one.
TOTAL ACCESSIBILITY:
- SUMMER RISING IS 100% FREE FOR ANY NYC RESIDENT IN GRADES K-8. Hours range from 8 am – 6 pm, and includes free breakfast and lunch – making this program an ideal option for ALL students.
DISCOVERY OF NEW INTERESTS:
- During the school year, both classes and after school have a fixed curriculum. But, camp can offer students a myriad of opportunities – from trips to new activities, kids can discover new interests: From STEM to the arts and even dance!!!
SERVING AS AN “ACADEMIC BRIDGE”:
- Summer Rising provides both daily structure and a low pressure environment – meaning that students remain academically sharp through hands-on projects while simultaneously exploring the outside world through trips/activities.
SEAMLESS TRANSITION TO SEPTEMBER:
- Summer rising is usually held on site at a student’s school, or nearby. Given that camp maintains the same routine of waking up early and interacting with peers/educators, back-to-school becomes a lot less scary. For some middle schoolers, it is also a potential opportunity to attend camp on their new campus!!!
Summer Rising is about so much more than killing time during summer vacation; it’s a chance to explore the city and make new friends in a context that school usually doesn’t provide. Each year we feel so grateful to watch our students grow over the course of seven weeks – and 2026 is no different!!! Apply now with your local provider before the portal closes on March 27th.
