The Power of Fashion: Teaching Teens to Celebrate Failure Through Creativity

How good are YOU when it comes to dealing with failure? The truth is, most of us are …not. After all, it makes sense to celebrate when you get things right, but how about when you get it wrong?

Introducing “The Power of Fashion”: A Project-Based Learning Experience

This is the question that inspired the very first meeting of our PBL, “The Power of Fashion,” led by CASW-Media Director Carlos De Moya. The module, which targets younger youth (ages 14-15), is meant to teach participants about the theory behind fashion’s influence on society and even encourage them to partake in their own creations. The idea is of course, that they let go of any inhibitions and allow themselves to show up as their most authentic, creative, and empowered selves.

From Inspiration to Activation: The Story Behind “Fail-A-Bration”

If you were to ask Carlos where he got this idea, he would point you toward “Fail-A-Bration,” a picture book by Brad and Kristi Montague. The book is exactly what it sounds like; a call to celebrate the beauty of our failures and a necessary reminder that some of the world’s greatest accomplishments were preceded by various mistakes.

What If We Celebrated Failure Like We Celebrate Success?

After all, it’s easy to celebrate your triumphs, but we never stop to think that our failures are another stepping stone on our way to success!!! So we invite you, dear reader, wherever you are, to hold your very own version of the Fail-A-Bration; all you need is the courage to try again!!!
