Our early lives are defined by a variety of milestones – your first day of school, your first job, high school graduations, etc. As children grow and evolve, their educational needs (and interests!) will grow and change along with them. That is why Children’s Arts and Science Workshops is especially proud to be there every step of the way – from ages 5-24, we offer a variety of programs and opportunities to NYC youth. Although, as an organization, we aim to do more than educate in strictly the academic sense, but also help our participants to grow emotionally and socially:
After-School and Summer Programs Designed to Help Youth Thrive

Starting in elementary school, CASW provides comprehensive after-school programs that focus on hands-on curriculums and social/emotional learning. This means that we prioritize allowing our students to experience the world for themselves, and grow their confidence along the way. Through activities focused on STEM, athletics, arts, and mental health, we want our students to feel safe to explore life’s bigger questions. Our hands-on approach prioritizes critical thinking, problem solving, and spatial reasoning skills. The idea is to encourage students to observe details, experiment, and use the information they gather to make decisions – which in turn helps them to develop emotional intelligence and resilience. These are skills that will serve them in the long run, as they become proactive members of their community.
Leadership and Career Readiness Opportunities for Teens and Young Adults

As our students mature and reach their high school years, CASW eventually transitions toward helping them prepare for the professional world. Through CASW-Workforce, we aim to connect young people ages 14-24 with their first job. Through programs like SYEP, Ladders for Leaders, and Work, Learn, and Grow, we help students develop early professional skills and use them in a real-world context. Whether you’re working with other CASW-youth through summer camp, or interning at one of our partner employers, our goal is to form an instrumental role in your career journey; every step of the way!
Why CASW’s Holistic Approach Matters for NYC Youth
We know that by adapting our programs according to a young person’s developmental stages, we have the unique opportunity to help guide the next generation of leaders and community builders. As young people graduate from different stages of their CASW-journey, we pride ourselves on the fact that many of them return, either as junior counselors during their SYEP years, or even as mentors for CASW-youth in general.
We love to see our alumni carry the torch of service towards their community!
